Today marks a significant milestone in Canadian aviation history. Sealand’s Chief Flying Instructor, Ian Lamont, and a fortunate new student pilot, Edwin Clements, embarked on Canada’s first electric training flight. This unique experience represents the inaugural commercial use of an electric airplane in our nation, opening the doorway to increased sustainable aviation.
Edwin, selected through our public contest, had the privilege of experiencing his first introductory flight lesson in our Pipistrel Velis Electro. This aviation milestone was shared with local politicians, industry leaders, and media representatives.
With this achievement, Sealand Flight now offers electric flight training towards a Private Pilot Licence, Electric Aircraft differences course, and general electric flight sightseeing. We have successfully launched into the era of electric flight services and warmly invite anyone interested to join us.
